Since I was a little girl growing up in Stellenbosch, art has been a very important part of my life — from the history of art to creating it. This year I finally have the opportunity to be a full time fine artist doing commissions, painting what I love the most and sharing it with others. Painting memories of people's lives helps them keep that memory alive, and being able to see it every day keeps that connection present in their everyday lives. An important element of my work is to evoke emotion and a connection with its viewers, drawing them into my paintings.
